Cardingmill Valley and Church Stretton
This area of stunning National Trust heathland and valleys lies close to the historic town of Church Stretton.


Wilderhope Manor
A perfect and peaceful place to pause for an afternoon tea on the terrace. Standing on the slopes of Wenlock Edge with fine views of the landscape, the house dates from 1585 and boasts a remarkable wooden spiral staircase and fine plaster ceilings.

Stokesay Castle
Stokesay Castle is the finest and best preserved 13th century fortified manor house in England. It offers visitors a unique glimpse into a distant age, when strength and elegance were combined.

Much Wenlock
Visit the dramatic remains of Wenlock priory dating from AD 680 and in the town, imagine how life must have been, as you walk the cobbled streets and see Much Wenlock's ancient wells, whipping posts and stocks.

Ludlow
Ludlow and its imposing castle are perched on a cliff over the peaceful River Teme. The history of the town is evident in every street and building, a 900-year old Norman town that was built to a plan.

Bridgnorth
From here, the Severn Valley Railway winds along the Severn Gorge, a journey that will take you back to the age of steam. The steep old Cartway rises to the marketplace, but don't worry, the lower and upper parts of the town are also linked by the steepest funicular railway in Britain.
